The Southern Four Wheel Drive Association announced last evening the closure of the Beasley Knob OHV area due to weather conditions and heavy rain in recent days by the National Forest Service. Working with the Georgia Bounty Runners, we are developing an alternative plan for our June 14, 2014 Meet and Ride.
The plan will be to continue with our scheduled Meet and Ride and shift to the Jay Bird family property Stone Mill in Jasper, GA. The property has a number of good trails for all vehicles and we will be able to work with Mother nature. Directions to the property are noted below.
The plan will be for those staying in or traveling from close destinations to Blairsville to meet at Beasley Knob OHV trailhead at 9:00 AM promptly. We will travel down Highway 515 to Jasper as a group to the property. Trailer parking will be available. All others can travel directly to the Stone Mill property and meet our GBR hosts around 10:00 AM.
From Atlanta:
I-75 North to I-575 North
I-575 North (Will turn into Hwy 515)
Turn left onto Hwy 53 in Jasper.
After about 9 miles turn right on to Big Ridge Rd. Jackie Flower Shop will be on the corner. When the pavement changes about 4 miles, turn left onto Damascus Rd.
Turn right onto Long Branch Rd. Follow Long Branch to the lake.
For GPS use 1749 Long Branch Rd, Ranger GA But go to the end of the road to the lake
Anyone that has issues, concerns or needs additional details, please contact Ray Stanley at (404) 357-0649 or Jay Bird at (770) 597-6092. The plan will be to enjoy this beautiful private property, its trails and family story. We will continue with our plan to meet around 4:00 PM and discuss a number of relevant topics to your association.
Thank you for your understanding and we look forward to meeting all of you Saturday at Stone Mill.
