Meet & Ride at Royal Blue - Sand Mines ride from the Cove Lake State Park
March 7th, 2015 9 am
This is a slightly older report but one worthy of sharing again as it was a considerable undertaking. This report needs to be shared with the public in hope everyone will better understand the economic value of outdoor OHV recreation.
According to the report, Outdoor recreationists made more than 938 million visits to Federal lands and waterways, spending $51 billion and supporting 880,000 jobs in 2012.
As many of you already know, the Uwharrie OHV trail system is in danger of extinction if not drastic reworking!
Today is not only December 1st, but is also marks only 150 days until TrailFest 2015!
Mark your calendars now for May 1-3, 2015 at Adventure Off Road Park.
We're coming back to AOP for the second year now and we fully intend to put on one our best ever TrailFest Event. We beat our attendance record last year but now let's all see if we can blow Tom and the folks from Tom's 4x4 and AOP away in 2015. We have a holiday Ticket Special soon to be announced on advance ticket purchases, so to take advantage of the very best price available for 2015 please stay tuned for further announcements.
Recently Rock Corps 4X4 Inc had their annual Toy Run at The Flats Off Road Park in Marion NC.
To date, this was the biggest event they have hosted!
This past week several SFWDA volunteers met with the National Forest Service Ranger and Engineering Manager representative; Valencia Morris regarding the design and construction parameters in building new trails at Beasley Knob OHV area.
The Forest Service recently encountered a firestorm of protest from a constituency that generally hasn’t been opposed to the agency’s management of wilderness areas. That all changed when the agency floated a proposed rule that would require news agencies to pay a fee and get a permit to cover news stories in designated wilderness areas.
We are very pleased to announce that our newest 4x4 club to join SFWDA for the very first time is Rock Corps 4x4 out of Marion, NC. We are in our 6th year since we formed. They started out with six guys, just looking for somewhere local to wheel.
Before you head out to Dixie Run 28, take a moment and use your WIFI at home to download a brand new map of the park just released by Jake White of CartoTracks.
The National Forests in North Carolina have announced that they will host a workshop on September 18, 2014, to address management of non-motorized and motorized recreation trails across the Uwharrie National Forest.
