Dennis Woods of TERAFLEX Talks about the “Big Picture” before you Lift and Build

Dennis Woods talks with us about what you should and should not do when lifting or building your rig.

Season 1 Episode 16

On this episode of Tech Net LIVE we catch up with Dennis Wood of TERAFLEX. Dennis is quite a personality, and perhaps a bit of a off-road industry celebrity. Here’s what he suggested we cover, and anytime Dennis shares his Jeep and suspension experience with the world there’s sure to gems of knowledge involved.

In fact if you plan ahead well you can actually save a ton of money on your build project by eliminating replacement parts you will only use for a short time before you upgrade again. So your topic for the week is;

“What to consider and avoid when building / lifting your Jeep.

1) why did you buy a jeep? ( Meet chicks, commute, beach, trails/camping, rock crawling ….)

2) how will you be using the Jeep… daily driver, combination on offroad, long commutes, trailer rig crawler…..

3) budget…. The lift is just a small part of the $ layaout.. tires wheels, winch, gears, axles…….

4) tire size. Determines lift height, and impacts the budget big time..

5) ramifications of tire size gas, gears, lift, flares, legal?, highway manners, cost

6) use determines what is required for accessories.

7) overlander build

8) crawler rig

9) beach cruiser

10) the best way to build your Jeep… depends on how you plan to use it, always upgradable, but do it once do it right is a way to save money.

11) examples of some of my builds…JK’s with 6.4 hemi conversions, YJ crawler, 2 door JL, overland JK, LJ on 42’s and a 6.2 LS… and why” ?

That and lots more along with your questions LIVE on Facebook video and interactive through the comments section.

Just how do you start a 10 year 94,000 mile journey?

On this next episode of Tech Net we catch up with Dan Grec, an Engineer by trade and a Jeeper by heart, with a major passion for travel and adventure. But, just exactly how did Dan know that “The Road Chose Me” and decide to embark on the ultimate overlanding journey of a lifetime.

In 2009, he sold all his stuff, quit his job, and loaded up his gray Jeep Wrangler for 22 months along a 40,000-mile route that took him from the tip of North America to Tierra del Fuego, Argentina — the tip of South America.

And a little over a year ago, he concluded a 54,000-mile journey in a different Jeep, a 2011 Wrangler Rubicon. That Jeep was customized to hold a pop-up tent/bed and a kitchen, but the engine, drive-train, and other components were left all factory. That Jeep took him around the continent of Africa. He started in Morocco and three years and 35 countries later rolled into Cairo, Egypt.

Just how did Dan do it, how did he get started and what was the most interesting thing he saw along his journey? Join Mike and Alan LIVE this Thursday evening to learn all about it. Dan will talk with us about his love for overlanding and his background with Jeeps. Maybe he’ll even let us in what in store for his next adventure.

That and lots more along with your questions LIVE on Facebook video and interactive through the comments section. Dan has offered to give away an Africa Picture Book, a patch, and some stickers for those who join us LIVE.

During all of our live Tech Net streams simply comment with the secret phrase shared during the broadast for a chance to win a set of 5 BFG KO2 or KM3 tires in the grand prize drawing this fall. You can also qualify for an additional BFGoodrich Tire set entry by enrolling or renewing your SFWDA Annual Membership for a very limited time right now at sfwda.org/memberships

Happy 244th Birthday America!

Wishing everyone a Happy Independence Day weekend! As we gather together with friends and families over BBQ’s and fireworks it’s important to remember this significance of USA’s birthday and the singing of our Declaration of Independence.

“United we stand, divided we fall” is not an American saying, but it truly reflects the sole conditions under which American Independence was born and keeps living today: its fortitude blooms when we come together in the spirit of oneness, and it is inconceivable when we feel separated from each other. Pauline Hanson said, “To survive in peace and harmony, united and strong, we must have one people, one nation, one flag”. It goes without saying that the flag is the most potent token of the American Independence. - Source; https://writology.com/blog/happy-independence-day-quotes-and-greeting-messages.html
